Happy Friday to you my friends! I hope all is well with you.
A quick update on a few things….
Greenhouse is in full swing – and smells heavenly every time I walk in. Nothing like the sea of green when walking into the greenhouse, the warmth and the sweet smell of things growing and blooming already. It’s overflowing with growth in 2, 3, 6, 10 and 12 inch pots, in addition to the four and 6 packs. I’ve kicked out the sweet peas two weeks ago, but have still yet to get them into the ground! I will get to it soon…in the mean time, we are preparing for a garden club show on Saturday, and of course our Spring Artisan Market in just a bit over a week!
The weather has been on and off, it seems to want to be a warm Spring, as the Lilac is already starting to burst forth with their heady scent – but then it’s been rainy and cool more often then not – the lovely part of the great PNW, so wishy washy! Every year has something.
Currently, it’s pouring down rain, and very cool, which the sweet peas will greatly benefit from, so I’m not too worried yet.
The garden has been tilled three times now, and looks to be just about ready to install – but I’m still unsure of what we are planting. With some traveling on the docket for the summer, I’m not sure how much time I want to invest in putting in the flowers. Perhaps if I just sold it all, and just took the summer to enjoy the grands, travel and pottery…? But then I won’t have ANY flowers…that sounds suss to me…
We also did more cleaning of the milk house, and brain storming about the plans to turn it into a studio. It will be fun to see it all come together. I did a ton of work moving things over in the concrete barn so we were able to move the freezer over – it’s been sitting in this spot for 51 years, Joe was a bit hesitant to move it, why change a good thing? But all good things must come to an end – the freezer is just fine, and it needed a good cleaning up anyhow, so it was a good move, and it’s still working just as good as it was before we moved it.

Gardening items are nicely organized and stored away for when I will need them. It’s so nice being organized lol – what a silly thing to say, but really, when I go to look for something and can actually lay my hands on it, I feel a sense of pride that I am not a loser and can actually do something right.
Our schedule has been busy as usual, work, grands, seed starting, seedling potting up, a soccer game, visits with mom (she’s doing better than she has in a long time), trips to the tulips and of course pottery. As stated in my previous post – I’ve taken on a new facet of pottery. See video here…Slip casting has proven to be so much fun – and so, so, very messy! But also – so far – successful – but I haven’t done much cleaning of the seams and certainly haven’t done any bisque firing yet or most importantly glazing – so I can’t say I’ve been wildly successful – just mildly as of today lol. Thankfully, Joe has been super helpful as he is the most patient of the two of us, and has helped with the demolding of some of the trickier and complicated molds that don’t want to release super easy. You can always follow me on IG to learn more about my pottery. (of course I have three IG pages….because I like to keep things separate, but that link is for my pottery page.)
I’m looking forward to giving you a few more updates about the garden and pottery soon.
The Spring Market was looking like a super full house – however; unfortunately I’ve had two vendors contact me and back out. I’m not hugely surprised about the first one, she was a bit shady and never responded to my emails – so it was a bit sketchy, but the second one kind of surprised me. I get that things are busy with life and things happen. I will do my best not to take it personally, but that’s my nature.
I hope things are warming up in your part of the world, hang in there, summer is just around the corner! Thank you so much for the visit – until next time – hugs to you!
