Happy Friday evening my friends! I hope all is well in your part of the world. It’s certainly been a few hot minutes since I’ve posted!
Being back at work full time has been a bit of a tricky balance – certainly a bit more work than I’m used to-a bit earlier than usual, in the classroom a bit more, means less office time added with winter time weather, darkness, rain, not so fun at all…..but it will even out soon I’m sure.
I worked a bit on the garage last weekend – moved a few things around and have a space for the pottery wheel – so that will be a nice little slice of fun to have when I’m able to get to it, I’m hoping for at least a few times a week.
I picked up a few items from the clay studio today. I always have so much fun when I pick up from the studio. I’m surprised to see I have two vessels I forgot I had thrown. I’m super happy to have found them again, but I’m not sure what I’m going to do with them. They have been fired already, so typically they do not have underglaze transfers applied to them, but they can….we shall see what I can do with them. It will be interesting to see what happens when I finally get my kiln, the ebb and flow of work that goes in and out of the studio will be a bit different than what goes in and out of my studio. A bit more stress when I’m firing, so much to learn!

I also tried new clay, which I do not care for particularly, so it will be interesting to see if it grows on me. It’s a bit more yellow than I really prefer. I have lots, and lots of clay to play with, so I’m not in dire straights! It will be fun to pull a few things out and play with the different forms from GR Pottery Forms, I’ve purchased, the underglaze transfers from Elan Transfers, and the different cutters and stamps from De La Design gifts. It’s an entirely new world – so much to learn, so much to play with.

Speaking of which I have more stamps on the way! I’m looking forward to seeing them soon…..shipping takes so long-but it’s super nice to be able to order from local people (well they aren’t from here, but they are a small business), and support someone from the US.
Speaking of which, I ordered some items from an Etsy shop that will pair nicely with the Beeswax wraps that I will be gifting to some family members. For now, I wait until the post office decides they will deliver them.
There’s already plans for Spring time….I chatted with Jolly Farmer, placed an order that I am already second guessing and ready to make changes to. The kids went through the book and found a bunch of fun houseplants they want me to order.
I will definitely cut back my order, it was 1,400 plugs….who needs that many plugs? I will see what I can cut back on and see what I can do. With Facebook not being an option to advertise, I’m not even sure how I’m going to get rid of the “extra”. There was life before Facebook, I just have to figure it out. The MeWe adventure has been a bit lonely, and honestly I thought I would have a ton of extra time, from not being on Facebook as much, but it seems I spend a lot of time on Instagram now, they have Reels…in case you didn’t know – Reels…that often times are really cool, but also not a super great way to spend my time. Sometimes that is the only energy I have left, just enough to watch a bunch of worthless Reels made by people who have way too much time on their hands, who may or may not be real – who may or may not have talent….that of course I’m comparing myself to. That ever present Imposter syndrome…that hopefully will go away someday!
My friend Tonya, from Mountain View Flower Farm had her vintage antique trail sale. Her cute little shop had some happy visitors some of which were excited to purchase some of my little trinket dishes. She had a great turn out, which is great. I haven’t been back to check which ones actually sold, so I will need to go back over soon. People that didn’t even know me spent money on my cute little trinket dishes.

I made several things that I’m not sure I really LOVE – have no idea what the heck I’m going to do with them, but really do not want them either, but can’t really let them go. I can totally see them on a shelf in a studio that perhaps maybe some day might be in my life latter down the road…
It appears that my laptop is about ready to die, so I should probably sign off sooner than later.
Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope all is well with you and yours. Until next time my friends, hugs to you!
How did you fare through the storm? I’ve been thinking of you.

I’m so sorry it has taken forever to get back to you – no excuse other than it’s been busy! We fared just fine through all of it, our driveway was impassable with my car for a few days, but we could get out in the truck. My mom and daughter were stranded in their perspective houses for a day, but things settled down quickly. We were able to get to mom – who lost power late the first night – and get her to our house to warm up and hang out for a bit before her power came back on. How did you guys do out there?
